I know I’m not the only who went to the movie theatre to see National Treasure 2 a few months back and ended up enjoying the new Disney short screening before the actual movie way more. For those of you not in the know, this is the first Disney Goofy short in over 40 years. I loved watching all of the Disney shorts growing up, and just about forgot about them until I saw this new one in the theatre. It was a very pleasantly unexpected treat!

There isn’t much information available out there about it, as I came to find out while looking for DVD release information at Amazon.com and at various animation-related websites (although, it does have its own Wikipedia page). Unfortunately, there’s no upcoming DVD release date anywhere to be found. I expected it to perhaps be included as bonus material on the National Treasure 2 DVD, but it isn’t. I was able, however, to find a short video clip (click on the article image), and an article/interview published several months before the short made its debut, where the image accompanying this article is coming from. There is also a nice write-up at the 2719 Hyperion blog.

Anyone else anticipating seeing this again? The iTunes Store has one of Goofy’s How To classic shorts (How to Play Football, from 1944)—I’m hopeful that How to Hook Up Your Home Theater will also find its way there really soon!
