This is incredible. Watch a music video made by filmmaker Dennis Liu to The Bird and the Bee’s Again & Again, using only the Mac desktop environment.

Word Clock Screensaver

If you are a Mac user, check out this really nice typographic screensaver from London-based graphic designer and programmer Simon Heys.

There’s no ‘Reset to defaults’ option, and I think I went kind of crazy with the typefaces because it eventually gave me an error and refused to load. So if you want to reset it, find the com.simonheys.wordclock.plist preference file in Library › Preferences › ByHost and trash it. Then relaunch System Preferences and get customizing. Or leave it as is—I do like the default configuration.

Quick OS X Mail.app tip

I discovered something really cool today, while using Mail, on my Mac at work.

You know when you go to reply, the entire email you are replying to—and sometimes a few more emails that came with it—immediately gets quoted in the new message? A lot of times, this is not desirable.

Well, it turns out, if you wanted to quote only part of that previous message in your reply, you can just highlight only what you want quoted, and only that specific part will appear in your reply. Neat, huh? I don’t know if this feature is available in other email clients. Perhaps someone reading this will know.

New Photoshop CS3 details

Just a quick post to point people to an applegazette article that mentions some of the upcoming features of Adobe Photoshop CS3. I’ve recently upgraded from a slow Mac mini G4 to a Mac Pro, but I can definitely tell when Rosetta is working hard to help Photoshop and Illustrator keep up with the workflow. Some really nice features mentioned. I can’t wait!

New iSight in a week?

0

I have wanted to get an Apple iSight for quite a while now but decided to buy one just when they went out of stock everywhere. A few Mac blogs speculated that a new version of iSight might be in the works so I decided to wait some more. The Apple Store estimated ship date went from 1-2 months, to 2-3 weeks, and just now I checked and it says 5-7 days!

I’m going to make some speculations on my own now and guess that the new iSight will be smaller, and with a higher resolution video sensor (maybe 1.3 MP like the Logitech webcams?). Echo cancellation and face tracking would be nice too.

So, here’s hoping to a brand new iSight very, very soon!

Update (10/31/06): The Apple Store has changed the ship time to 7–10 days. I wonder what’s going on?
